Maki Run, the Nosy Komba Trail

Updated on 20/05/2023 | Posted on 09/12/2021

"Every year in Nosy Komba there's a race, a mountain trail called "Maki Run"."

Maki Run?

Is this a race for makis? No, it is a mountain race with humans, willing, brave, and some of them are even determined to finish on the podium. The race is held annually in June. The differences in altitude are quite significant. Three races are generally proposed: 10 km, 20 km, 30 km. For the last two years, two races were offered: 10km and 23km.

Jérôme Miquel has initiated this race since the first edition in 2013. The godmother of the race is Fatima Hibon, who comes every year from La Réunion to support the race.

Enel is the champion in his category of the Maki Run trail, every year he consistently wins the race.

Animation in the village of Ampangorina will take place throughout the race to ensure the follow-up of the runners. Refreshment and food stands are available. The prize-giving ceremony takes place at 4pm. In the evening, a bal (dance party) is organized to close the event.
