"In March, the women of Nosy Komba celebrate International Women's Day."

The Women’s Day or Women’s Festival in Nosy Komba echoes the official ceremony of the International Women’s Day on March 8. The event takes place during one day in March. All the women’s associations of the island are present, dressed in lambaoany, adorned with their most beautiful finery, they parade in a procession through the streets of the village dancing and singing. After the performances, the women offer drinks to the men and a dance party is organized.
Each women’s association has its own dress, dance and anthem. Previously, there was a ranking of the most beautiful dances and outfits, but the podium caused too much jealousy and quarrels, the show remains intact, but today there is no more election or ranking. Each year the celebration of Women’s Day on 8 March takes place in a different town in the Diana region of Madagascar.
