Hiking, trekking in the mountains

Land-based activities offer a rich and varied experience for visitors. Hiking and trekking enthusiasts can explore the island’s lush forests and mountainous landscapes, passing through plantations of vanilla, cocoa, coffee, pepper and fruit trees. Hiking trails include discovering the mountain, climbing to the island’s summit, crossing the island, and multi-stage sport hikes.

Visitors can combine these activities with local sustainable development initiatives, offering authentic experiences and typical Malagasy meals.

Wildlife exploration

During these excursions, it’s possible to observe a variety of animals, including macaco makis, which roam freely on the island, chameleons, including Furcifer pardalis and Brookesia minima, and other reptiles such as lizards and snakes. The forests are also home to an exceptional avifauna, with over twenty bird species, some of them endemic. The months of September and October are ideal for observing nesting birds.
