At the top of the island at 620m above sealevel, is the former residence of the commander who once was the head of the 1st Nosy Be district. A sanatorium (healing place for tuberculosis patients) did exist in the past.
The village of blacksmiths, with its cemetery at the West.
In 1895, during the first phase of the Franco-Merina war, wounded french soldiers were cared by missionaries in a sanatorium nearby the village. Some deaths were buried in the cemetery at the western end of the Village where there are 99 graves of foreigners.
